Rockne C. Freitas

Rockne Crowningburg Freitas was born on September 7th, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawai'i, to John Silva Freitas and Ellen Kane Freitas. Rockne returned to the Lord on June 8th, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ellen, and his sisters Betty Mae (Patrick) Hiram and Margaret Elsworth (Tau) Greig. He grew up in Kailua, where he spent much of his childhood in the ocean, developing a love for fishing, diving, and surfing.

Rockne attended Kamehameha Schools from Kindergarten until he graduated in 1963.

While attending Kamehameha, he was part of the 1962 State Championship Football team and the 1962 and 1963 State Basketball Championship teams. Rockne was also the Shot Put and Discus State Champion in 1963.

Rockne went on to Oregon State University, where he played on the 1964 Rose Bowl team and in numerous all-star games upon finishing his college eligibility.
