A tumultuous year in the life of Enzo Ferrari is the focus of the new movie Ferrari, directed by Michael Mann and starring Adam Driver as the famed Italian racer and car builder.

Set in 1957, the biopic—which also stars Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley—debuted at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival and is now in theaters.
The movie highlights Ferrari’s troubles shortly after the death of his son, Dino, and surrounding the treacherous Mille Miglia road race.
While there are a number of action-packed racing scenes, Driver told ABC News the script is much more “character-driven” and highlights the complexity of Ferrari’s personal and business relationships. “A big theme in this movie is loss and grief, and this is 1957 so it’s pre-psychology and these people have come up with their own coping mechanisms,” Driver said.
“It is ambiguous, at times. (Ferrari’s) not likable, nec
