EARLY LIFE
- Galileo was the first of six children born to Vincenzo Galilei, a lutenist, composer, and music theorist, and Giulia Ammannati, who wed in 1562, in Pisa, Italy (previously part of the Duchy of Florence).
Galileo went on to become a skilled lutenist and would have picked up a skepticism for authority from his father at a young age.
