    Marcia Gay Harden, an accomplished American actress, was born in La Jolla, California to Texan parents Beverly and Thad Harold Harden.

    Her father's naval career necessitated frequent relocations, exposing her to diverse cultures in Japan, Germany, Greece, California, and Maryland.

    Harden graduated from high school in Clinton, Maryland, and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
